TERUMO BCT

UI/UX Designer

Terumo BCT was migrating its global website from SharePoint to Adobe Experience Manager, requiring a large-scale redesign and rebuild of existing and new pages across regions and languages.

Strategic impact

This work supported a full CMS and design-system transition for a highly regulated, global healthcare organisation. The goal was to stabilise and modernise the website while ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across markets — without disrupting ongoing business and content operations.

Stepping into an in-flight transformation

I joined the project mid-migration to support the internal design team during a high-volume delivery phase. I collaborated closely with designers, developers, and content stakeholders to redesign legacy pages and build new ones directly in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), the company’s new no-code CMS.

Designing within a system

I was responsible for designing and/or developing approximately 40 pages in AEM, including English and Japanese versions. This included product pages, executive leadership profiles, compliance and security content, ESG and EHS pages, training content, and patient stories. Some pages followed established patterns, while others required new layouts designed in Figma and aligned to the emerging design system.

Working within complex systems and constraints

The migration introduced new technical, content, and governance constraints. I worked within AEM’s component model, localisation requirements, and regulatory considerations, ensuring pages were reusable, maintainable, and consistent across regions. Where possible, I reused existing components and patterns to reduce design and development overhead.

Collaboration

As an external contractor embedded within the team, I liaised daily with internal designers, developers, and content authors. This required adapting quickly to existing workflows, tooling, and decision-making structures, while maintaining quality and momentum during a large-scale rollout.

Key contributions

  • Designed and/or developed ~40 pages in Adobe Experience Manager

  • Supported bilingual (English / Japanese) page delivery

  • Designed new page layouts in Figma aligned to the internal design system

  • Built product, compliance, leadership, training, ESG, and patient story pages

  • Ensured consistency, accessibility, and localisation across regions

Outcome

The work helped Terumo BCT successfully transition to a modern CMS and design system, enabling faster content delivery, better governance, and a more consistent global web presence.
