Jiffie
My role:
User Interface Designer

Imagine a social app that combines the best features of TikTok, Reddit, WhatsApp, and Telegram all in one place. With its innovative content display, users can easily scroll through short-form videos and discover new creators. The forums feature allows for open discussions on a wide range of topics, with the ability to upvote and downvote content for a personalized experience. The texting functionality enables private conversations with friends and family, while the groups feature makes it easy to connect with like-minded individuals around shared interests. This app offers an all-in-one social experience that is both dynamic and versatile, making it the perfect platform for anyone looking to connect and engage with others.
What was done
For the Jiffie project, I was responsible for the User Interface design and visual concept of an all‑in‑one social application prototype. The work involved evaluating the existing design state, creating detailed UI sketches, and developing a component library to ensure consistency throughout the interface.
I defined the structure and visual style for multiple core screens including account creation, onboarding, feed and content browsing, messaging, forums, and collections. A brief design system documentation was also created to support a smoother hand‑off to developers and future collaborators.

Why was it done
The project aimed to reimagine a social app that blended the best aspects of popular platforms — including short‑form content discovery, threaded forums for open discussion, and integrated messaging.
The goal was to unify these experiences into a cohesive interface that would feel intuitive and familiar to users while offering versatile engagement options. This required not only a visual design solution, but also thoughtful usability decisions to ensure flows were intuitive, feasible to build, and aligned with user expectations around social behaviours.
With ample complexity across interactions and screen states, establishing visual consistency through a component library became essential for both design clarity and developer collaboration.
How was it done
To tackle this design challenge, the process began with evaluating the existing interface, identifying inconsistencies and areas that lacked clarity. I then translated insights into UI sketches that explored layout, navigation, and functional clarity across key screens. From these explorations, I built a component library — a modular set of styled buttons, form elements, icons, and UI patterns that could be reused across screens to maintain consistency and streamline hand‑off.
For major flows such as account creation and onboarding, I designed multiple states (e.g., verification, interest selection) to support a smooth first‑time use experience. I defined feed designs with different content views and modes, as well as messaging and forum structures that support active engagement. The final designs were documented with brief notes on recurring components and patterns, to make collaboration easier and speed up future iterations.
Throughout, I balanced aesthetic decisions with usability and feasibility considerations, ensuring the flows would be buildable by developers and intuitive for users without heavy testing resources at hand.
Conclusion
Although this project was UI-focused, a lot of thought was put into the usability, and also the feasibility of design elements, I had to make sure the flows were buildable by the developers and usable for the users. I also considered accessibility and existing mental models to reduce the learning curve for users.
Overall, this was an interesting project to work on, because it was complex and had a lot of depth, I worked on a tight schedule and had to manage collaborations with other team members. One thing I believe could have been done better was conducting proper tests with the desired target audience in order to further fine-tune some of the existing features. If you would like to see the entire design, please feel free to send me an email and I'd be happy to walk you through it.
